Aggregate Test Results

A quick look at the test results reveals that professional engineers performed well as long as they had reviewed the test questions and were alert to each chapter’s material. Eric Coffin, lead instructor, tells students on the DVD class to “read the question and then listen for the answer during that specific chapter lecture.”

The aggregate results, from February 2009, of the 40-question “Principles of Engineering Economy” test, show that students on the average received grades in the 90th percentile. You must score at least 70% to pass; if not, you can retake the test for free. A copy of this test is available on www.GEEintl.com web site. Not only has everyone passed; they have done very well according to the statistics. The overall raw results are

  • Lowest Score = 76%
  • Average = 96%
  • Highest Scores = 100%

The specific frequency distribution of test scores is shown in the graph below:

The curve below shows the correct response rate results for specific questions for the 40-question "Principles of Engineering Economy" test.

As you can see from graph above, there were a few questions that require some extra thinking because they are the ones most often missed. These questions are:

  • Question 7
  • Question 9
  • Question 15
  • Question 16
  • Question 30
  • Question 32

Even missing all six (6) of these questions results in a passing score of 85%. In fact, you would need to miss 13 questions to score below 70% and then retake the test.

For those who experience test anxiety, be prepared by reading each test question before the specific DVD chapter is covered. You’ll find success and an excellent grade will be yours!
